Who We Are
We are a community theatre group started in 1992, in North Vancouver, B.C., Canada. Originally comprised of members of St. Martin’s Anglican Church, our group has grown and thrived. Calling ourselves St. Martin’s Players, or just SMP, we mount a pantomime or cabaret each year in January to spice up the post-holiday doldrums. In 2003 we decided to incorporate ourselves (not-for-profit) as SMP Dramatic Society. Our group welcomes new members and so has evolved and matured, always with an emphasis on fun.
In 2004 after eight years of largely adult pantos and cabarets we needed a new venue to showcase the talents of our kids, and so we formed SMP Youth Productions. Cast members, the director, and producers were therefore drawn from the children of SMP actors. These youthful members already had several years experience on stage, and so were immediately successful. Soon friends, then friends of friends, became involved and so our numbers have increased and diversified.
We take joy in bringing live theatre to our community, and we have a lot of fun doing it. Our favourite production? Always the next one!
